The North end of Myrtle Beach is made up mostly of North Myrtle Beach and Little River. Little River Little River was historically a fishing village and was one of the areas earliest coastal settlements. Located right on the North Carolina / South Carolina state line. It was once a popular area for pirates and civil war blockade runners. The area is most known for its seafood, fishing charters, hundred year old live oaks and the Blue Crab Festivals. Little Rivers slow pace has attracted many retirees for the north looking for a relaxing place to escape the cold winters. The intercostals waterway has also been developed into resorts like Edgewater and the area has been more popular than ever for second homes and vacation Properties. Atlantic Beach Atlantic Beach is one of the areas that have been underdeveloped in the past few years. Atlantic Beach is known as being one of the last predominantly black beaches on the east coast. The ocean front lots in the area have remained undeveloped. Chartered in 1966 the area has been nicknamed “The Black Perl”. The beach was formed from the rich culture of African Americans.
